Salama Discusses Political Situation in Libya.

Munich, 18 February 2019(Lana) The UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghasan Salama held in Munich, where he attended the Security Conference, a number of international leaders and politicians. According to UNSMIL Communication Office Salama had a meeting with German Minister of State Walter Lindner with whom he discussed the situation in Libya. The UN Special Envoy also met the provisional Chairwoman of the World Bank Group Christina Georgiva, to discuss political developments in Libya and how to address economic challenges hindering the political process in the country. ... Central bank announces issue of 2nd new one Dinar note.

Tripoli, 18 February 2019 (Lana) Central Bank of Libya announced Monday the release of the second issue of the one-dinar note. A ceremony was organized for the occasion attended by Governor of Central Bank and several head of departments. The governor announced the circulation of the new one-dinar note as of Monday. He said Libya is the forerunner of countries, numbering 20 that use paper -plastic currency. He said the current one dinar note will be withdrawn gradually from circulation. Valletta, 18 February 2019(Lana) A court in the Mediterranean Island of Malta has released the hijacker of the Afriqiyah airliner which was on a flight from Sebha to Mi'tiga airport on Dec.23, 2016, and forcing it to land in Luqa Airport with 111 passengers on board. Media reports from the island said the court has decided to release the defendant after serving the maximum time in prison without trial in accordance with Maltese laws. In statement Sunday, the ministry explained that contacts were made with the liberated Tunisians at Zawia Security Directorate to get reassured about their health and safety.
