The Hague, May 04, 2024 (LANA) - The International Criminal Court, ICC, issued a warning to individuals who threaten to retaliate against it or its employees, stressing that such actions may constitute an attack on the administration of justice.
The Office of Attorney General Karim Khan, based in the Hague, said in a statement published on the X website on Friday, that it seeks to engage constructively with all stakeholders every time the dialogue is consistent with its powers.
He added, however, that this independence and impartiality are undermined when individuals threaten to take retaliatory measures against the court or against court staff if decisions are made regarding investigations that fall within its authority.
The Office of the Prosecutor warned that such threats, even if not carried out, could constitute an attack on the administration of justice entrusted to the International Criminal Court. He pointed out that the International Criminal Court calls for an immediate end to attempts to obstruct, intimidate, or unjustifiably influence its officials.
Khan's office did not want to determine who made these threats and whether they were related to the war on Gaza.
