Tripoli, April 17, 2024 (LANA) - The Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, discussed with the UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, the latest developments on the Libyan scene.

This came during Attaf’s reception, on Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Algerian mission to the United Nations, in New York, with the UN envoy Abdullah Batili, after he presented his latest report to the Security Council, which dealt with the latest political, security and economic developments in Libya. He announced his resignation from this position.

According to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Algerian minister praised the efforts and endeavors initiated by Batili during his term in office to contribute to bringing viewpoints closer between the Libyan parties and enabling the State of Libya to turn the page on the differences and crisis once and for all.

On Tuesday evening, Batili submitted his resignation to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
