Batili stresses the need for key leaders to listen to the demands of the people.

Tripoli, April 09, 2024 (LANA) - The UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, stressed the need for key leaders to listen to the demands of the people and engage in dialogue to find a political settlement that paves the way for holding elections.

This came during a visit by Batili, yesterday, Monday, to the city of Jado, during which he met with the mayors of various Amazigh cities, in the western Libyan region, during which he also reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to support the aspirations of all Libyans for comprehensive participation and development.

The UN envoy said in a tweet posted on his account on X: that he discussed with the attendees “their concerns regarding continued marginalization, participation in the political process and the reconciliation process, in addition to the security challenges that the region has witnessed recently.”

Batili added that the visit clearly demonstrated; “that the region and its residents deserve a fairer share of Libya’s abundant resources, and they are also entitled to fully enjoy their rights and have their voices heard in the political process.”
