Tripoli, April 1, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of Interior in charge of the National Unity Government, Imad Trabelsi, said on Sunday evening that the head of the joint security room and his assistant will go today to the Ras Jadeer port to assess the damage and find out the latest developments, expressing his hope that the port will be opened before Eid al-Fitr. .

  He explained during a press conference that, as soon as the assessment is completed, the ministry will transmit a report in this regard to the Prime Minister so that the crossing will be opened by the Ministry of Interior and the relevant security agencies.

In his conference, which the ministry published on its Facebook page, “Trabelsi” stressed working to reopen the port while not allowing any further violations to occur against police and security personnel, explaining that the port was subjected to an attack on March 18 by smugglers that led to its looting and the destruction of many military vehicles. .

The Minister of the Interior indicated that the area from Abu Kammash to Ras Ijdir will contain only state weapons, explaining the presence of a security force formed by the General Staff in the Abu Kammash area whose mission is to establish security at the crossing and then hand it over to the Ministry of Interior.
