Batili: Reconciliation is an integral part of any successful political process.

Tripoli, March 15, 2024 (LANA) - The UN envoy, Abdullah Batili, said today, Friday, that national reconciliation is an integral part of any successful political process, stressing the need for it to be centered around the victims and based on rights in accordance with sound mechanisms for transitional justice.

   This came in a tweet he posted on his "X" account following his visit on Thursday to the city of Bani Walid, during which he met with members of the city’s municipal council and the Social Council of the Werfilla tribes, academics from Bani Walid University, in addition to members of the Supreme Council of State, and representatives of women and youth. 

  Batili indicated in his tweet that he expressed his understanding of “the concerns expressed during the meeting regarding the continued feeling of marginalization and exclusion, and the grievances that have not been addressed, including the issue of political prisoners.”

“I praised their sense of patriotism and their conciliatory sentiments.” He added.
