The Japanese Ambassador announces his country's contribution of $630,000 to support efforts to help Libya recover from the effects of Storm Daniel.

Tripoli, February 28, 2024 (LANA) - The Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Shimura Izuru, announced his country’s contribution in the amount of (630) thousand US dollars through the International Organization for Migration - Libya, to support efforts to recover Libya from the effects of Storm Daniel.

Shimura said during his meeting with the interim head of the International Organization for Migration mission, Tohid Pasha, that the government of Japan and its people actually share the feeling of the suffering experienced by those affected.

Shimura expressed his hope that Japan's support through the International Organization for Migration would not only contribute to assisting recovery efforts, but would also lead to strengthening resistance against natural disasters in Libya.

The ambassador added that great credit for this goes to the excellent partnership and cooperation between the International Organization for Migration - Libya and Japan.

He pointed out that with this contribution, Japan has provided emergency humanitarian aid related to the typhoon victims amounting to 2.63 million US dollars, including the Japan Emergency Grant of 2 million US dollars, which was provided in early October 2023.
