Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Parliament appointed government discusses with a UN official the progress of work of the UN missions operating in the country.

Benghazi, February 17, 2024 (LANA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government appointed by Parliament, “Abdul Hadi Al-Hawaij,” discussed with the Deputy Head of the United Nations Mission and the Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, “Georgette Gagnon,” the progress of work of the United Nations missions and international organizations operating in the country.

During the meeting, Al-Hawaij stressed that the government appointed by the House of Representatives is responsible and legally committed, in accordance with national laws and legislation, in coordination with all local and international bodies to overcome difficulties, and to refer each United Nations agency, provided that all organizations settle their legal status with the government.

At the conclusion of their meeting, the two sides agreed to continuously follow up these procedures and coordination mechanisms between the two parties.
