Al-Lafi discusses with the French Ambassador the blockage in the political process.

Sunday, December 10, 2023 (LANA) - Representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received today Sunday morning, the French Ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Maharaj, to discuss the blockage in the political process, especially ways to support the initiative of the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, Abdullah Batilli.
The Council stated that the two sides stressed the need to mobilize local and international support, to support this initiative, as it is a serious step that would create a real environment in which elections would be held, by providing incentives and guarantees to all political actors, to encourage them to participate and accept the results.
On the other hand, the Presidential Council reported that the meeting dealt with the Palestinian issue and its recent developments, where Al-Lafi stressed his gratitude for the recent French position, during the vote in the Security Council, on the draft resolution related to an immediate ceasefire.
