With the participation of a Libyan delegation: The Steering Committee of the Integrated Border Security Management Project is examining in Rome mechanisms for monitoring the flow of illegal immigrants across the Sahara and the Mediterranean.

Rome, December 7, 2023 (LANA) - Last week, the fifth meeting of the Steering Committee for the Integrated Border Security Management Project was held in the Italian capital, Rome, with the participation of the Head of the Coast Guard and Port Security Service, Major General Engineer Reda Issa, the Director of the International Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, and representatives of Border Guard Corner and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

  The meeting, which was attended by the European Union Ambassador, representatives of the European Commission, the International Organization for Migration, and the Italian Ministry of Interior and Defense, discussed mechanisms for monitoring the flow of illegal immigrants across the Sahara and the Mediterranean.

According to what was published on the official page of the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army, the meeting dealt with providing support to the Coast Guard and port security in Libya, identifying the needs for securing land borders, and evaluating past and future activities, and the needs for maritime and land training.
