Tripoli, December 5, 2023 (Lana) The U.S. Embassy in Libya said that Libya will source a minimum of 20% of its electricity consumption from renewables by 2035.

“Libya adopted its first national renewable energy strategy in October with significant support from the U.S. Embassy through the US Agency for International Development (USAID).” The U.S. Embassy said on its Facebook page.

“The transition will also be a strategic economic move since energy subsidies in Libya count for 30% of government spending annually,” the Embassy added.
