Al-Dabaiba follows up with the Minister of Justice on the efforts of the Forensic Medicine Department in the city of Derna.

Tripoli, December 3, 2023 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, and Minister of Justice, Halima Ibrahim, followed up on the efforts of the Forensic Medicine Department in the city of Derna, the difficulties facing the city’s workflow, and ways to address them.

The Minister of Justice explained during the meeting held today, Sunday, that the forensic teams, including forensic doctors and autopsy technicians, are continuing to perform their work until now, noting that efforts are continuing to extract the remains of unidentified people, in order to identify them, in cooperation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Criminal Investigation Service. .

For his part, Al-Dabaiba praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Justice and its affiliated agencies to identify unidentified people through DNA analysis, stressing the necessity of cooperation between forensic medicine, the General Authority for the Identification of Missing Persons, the Criminal Investigation Service, and coordination of work with the Public Prosecutor’s Office. 

At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Dabaiba appreciated the efforts of the Libyan Red Crescent, the Support and Emergency Medicine Service, and the local and international rescue teams, in the work carried out by them to support the forensic medicine service, to do its part.
