Tripoli, March 21, 2023 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, and the Representative in the Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, received today, Tuesday, the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, "Barbara Leaf", and the US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, "Richard Norland", and the Chargé d'Affairs of the US Embassy, "Lizzie Ordman."

The media office of the Presidential Council stated that the meeting dealt with the latest political developments in Libya, and a number of files of common interest, military, security and economic.

The media office added that "Barbara Leaf" briefed "Al-Manfi" and "Al-Lafi" on the results of her visits to a number of Libyan officials, in addition to her meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, "Abdullah Batili", praising the role and efforts of the Presidential Council in the files of national reconciliation and support for elections.

For his part, Al-Manfi praised the positive role of the United States of America towards the Libyan file and its continuous emphasis on preserving national sovereignty, and its support for Mr. Abdullah Batili's plan regarding the elections, according to the media office.
