42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs kicks off in Doha with the participation of Libya.

 Doha, 25 January 2023 (Lana) 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs kicked off in the Qatari capital, Doha on Wednesday, with the participation of Libya, represented by Minister of Social Affairs Wafaa Al-Kilani. The two-day session will be held under the theme "Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Multidimensional Poverty: Further Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Beyond. 

 The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ministers of Social Affairs, a number of senior officials in the fields of social development and heads of social bodies in the Arab States will participate in the session.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that the opening session will witness the takeover by the State of Qatar of the presidency of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and discussion of strengthening Arab efforts aimed at implementing the social dimensions of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. 

The meeting was expected to witness the launch of several initiatives, including the Second Arab Decade for Persons with Disabilities, follow-up to the implementation of the Arab Strategy for the Elderly, updating national strategies for the family, as well as a number of studies related to children's rights, and the social and solidarity economy to support vulnerable groups.
