Participants in Berlin meeting reaffirm support for a comprehensive path towards elections in Libya.

Berlin, 10 September 2022 (Lana) Participants in the Berlin meeting on Libya today reaffirmed their shared commitment to support a comprehensive path towards elections in Libya as soon as possible, looking forward to working with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General the new head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdullah Batelli.

 Italy's special envoy to Libya, Nicola Orlando, said in a tweet that the participants in the Berlin meeting look forward to working closely with Batelli to support a Libyan roadmap leading to Libya's unity, stability and prosperity.

 The German capital hosted on Thursday and Friday, a meeting on Libya that brought together UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, special envoys and representatives of the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey and Egypt to discuss developments in the Libyan crisis.
