Rome, May 13, 2022 (LANA) - Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said that his country is working to encourage a satisfactory solution to the crisis in Libya, and supports every diplomatic mediation to try to bring stability to the country without hostility to either side.

In his speech before the “Towards the South” forum today, Friday, organized by the European House - Ambrositi - in the Italian Sorrento, Draghi stressed that the solution plan in Libya is not easy, especially since the goal is to find a compromise solution to succeed in forming a government freely elected by the people.

He stressed that (political stability in the Mediterranean is a goal that should be pursued, specifically in Libya, where it has huge capabilities).

He pointed to the causes of the ongoing war in Ukraine and its consequences for the stability of Africa and the Middle East.

“Decode 39” website quoted the Italian Prime Minister as saying: (The Italian government knows that with the decline in oil exports in Libya to its lowest level since April 2020 against the background of the closure in some of the Oil Crescent sites, there are still other unknown areas that production have declined in them as well).

Regarding his government’s balanced position on the crisis in Libya, Draghi said (the aim is to maintain the role of the mediator and stand at the same distance from the two factions in the field, as well as to enable the Italian oil company Eni to obtain an exploratory mandate to research and use new resources while avoiding antagonizing anyone sides).
