China reiterates: the solution to the Libyan crisis should be a national solution, and Africans affirm their permanent support for Libya.

New York, January 21, 2022 (LANA) - China, one of the five permanent members of the Security Council, affirmed that it (believes that the solution to the Libyan crisis should be purely Libyan and led by Libyans away from any interference).

This came during the meeting held by the representative of Libya to the United Nations, "Al-Taher Al-Sunni," with the Chinese representative to the United Nations, "Zhang Jun," via the "video conference" system.

In a tweet by Al-Sunni on his Twitter account, he said: (Within the framework of following up with permanent members of the Security Council, I held a meeting with China’s representative, Zhang Jun, where he affirmed his country’s keenness to support peace in Libya and that China believes that the solution is purely Libyan and with Libyan ownership and leadership away from any Interventions. Finally, we agreed to follow up on joint consultation and coordination).

In another tweet, Al-Taher Al-Sunni said (in the context of consultation and coordination with the African Group before the Security Council session scheduled for “next Monday” January 24th regarding Libya, I held a meeting with delegates of the African Group represented in the Security Council “Kenya, Ghana, Gabon” in the presence of the representative of the African Union in New York, where we gave a briefing to the group on the developments of the current political situation, and the group affirmed its full support for Libya and the people’s choice in self-determination, and the importance of completing the electoral process in a consensual manner without exclusion, and that the elections should not be an end but rather a means that contributes to resolving the crisis towards stability, and working to end all types of foreign interventions with the importance of the African role in supporting national reconciliation).
