Kupis stresses need to avoid politicizing of the National Oil Corporation to preserve its unity.

Tripoli, 1 December 2021 (Lana) The Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Jan Kupis, voiced ‘deep concern over challenges facing the National Oil Corporation in the current period", stressing the need to avoid politicization of this institution and to preserve its integrity and unity.

This came during a meeting that brought together the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation NOC Mustafa Sun’allah, and the UN envoy, on Tuesday in the capital, Tripoli.

 According to a statement by the NOC on its SMS page the meeting, focused on "means of supporting the National Oil Corporation and its companies at all levels in order to be able to run the sector's business and maintain sustainable production rates."

 Kupis stressed need for "avoiding the politicization of the institution and preserving its integrity and unity, noting that Libya's natural resources should benefit all Libyans through transparent management, fair distribution of wealth and provision of public services."
