Pulbished on:

Benghazi, November 5, 2026 (LANA) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Al-Salihin Abdul Nabi, met on Thursday with officials from the Great Man-Made River Project Implementation and Management Authority to discuss the difficulties and challenges affecting the operation of the Authority’s systems, as well as potential solutions.

The House of Representatives stated on its official page that the meeting took place at the House’s headquarters. It was attended by Abdulsalam Bal-Ashhar, the acting General Manager of the Sarir–Sirte–Tazerbo–Benghazi system, and Ali Al-Siddiq Al-Tayash, Deputy General Manager of the Sarir–Sirte–Al-Saddada system.

The discussion covered financial conditions and water security, in addition to resource shortages and the provision of essential supplies (provisions) at the Authority’s various sites.

During the meeting, the Authority’s representatives requested that public entities—which are currently in arrears regarding payments owed to the Authority—be urged to fulfill their financial obligations. This, they noted, would help address the operational difficulties facing the systems and ensure their continued performance.
