Tripoli, 4 November 2026 (LANA) – The Political Committee of the High Council of State has reiterated the Council’s firm position of rejecting the outcomes of the 4+4 Committee, stressing the need to respect the legal and constitutional frameworks governing the political process.
This came during the committee’s regular meeting held today, Wednesday, chaired by Mohamed Maazeb and attended by several committee members at the Council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.
According to the Council’s Media Office, the meeting discussed the latest developments in the country’s political scene and developments related to the political process, in light of the briefing delivered by the UN Special Representative on 14 October.
Committee members, according to the Media Office, reaffirmed their commitment to the roadmap announced by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in August 2025. They called on the mission to adhere to the roadmap and continue working in accordance with its announced course, while avoiding proposing parallel tracks that could complicate the political process.
The committee stressed that these efforts aim to reinforce national consensus, create the necessary conditions for holding elections, and bring the transitional phases to an end.
