Tripoli, November 3, 2026 (LANA) – The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, met today, Tuesday, in the capital, Tripoli, with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Fawzi Abu Khuzam. The meeting took place within the framework of monitoring developments in the financial and economic landscape, and discussing policies and measures to safeguard monetary stability and strengthen the state’s financial position.

The Presidential Council’s Media Office reported that the meeting addressed a number of priority economic and financial issues, most notably developments regarding the Libyan dinar exchange rate, measures to contain monetary pressures, the rectification of financial imbalances, the rationalization of public spending, and the tightening of oversight on the allocation of funds. These efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of public resource management, ensure fiscal discipline, and establish the foundations for economic sustainability.

The meeting also explored mechanisms to improve the alignment between fiscal and monetary policies, and to enhance institutional coordination among relevant authorities. Such steps are intended to address existing distortions within the economic system, maintain the stability of the banking sector, ensure the smooth flow of banking services, and bolster confidence in the financial system.

According to the Media Office, both sides emphasized the importance of adopting an integrated economic approach—grounded in institutional responsibility, the governance of public finance, and effective monetary and fiscal policies—to support economic stability, preserve the purchasing power of the Libyan dinar, and strengthen the capacity of state institutions to confront financial and economic challenges.
