Misrata, November 1, 2026 (LANA) – The Libyan-Italian Business and Investment Forum 2026 kicked off today, Sunday, in the city of Misrata, with the participation of approximately 60 Italian companies and institutions operating in the sectors of trade, industry, energy, technology, and shipbuilding.

The forum aims to strengthen economic cooperation and expand investment opportunities between the two countries. Its agenda includes field visits to Libyan companies and institutions, as well as the signing of cooperation agreements between the two sides.

The opening of the forum—organized by the Misrata Free Zone in collaboration with the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce—was attended by the Minister of Transportation of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi; the President of the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce, Nicola Colicchi; and various officials and representatives from the business sectors of both nations.

The forum’s activities encompass site visits to Libyan institutions and companies, alongside the formalization of cooperation agreements.

This forum serves as a follow-up to a series of engagements organized by the Misrata Free Zone in Rome, Italy, last July, which helped foster direct communication with the Italian business community and highlighted the investment opportunities available within the Misrata Free Zone.
