Tripoli - November 1, 2026 - (LANA) - The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, met today, Sunday, at the Council’s headquarters in Tripoli, with the Chairman of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala. The meeting took place within the framework of consultations regarding the latest political developments and the exchange of views on national issues of priority.

The Media Office of the Presidential Council Chairman stated that the meeting addressed political developments in the country and efforts aimed at creating the appropriate conditions to resume the political process. This is intended to lead to a comprehensive national settlement and lay the necessary groundwork for moving forward toward holding elections.

The Office added that al-Menfi briefed the Chairman of the High Council of State on the outcomes of his official visit to the Russian Federation last week, including his discussions with President Vladimir Putin. These talks covered support for the political process in Libya, the strengthening of bilateral relations, and the activation of the joint Libyan-Russian commission—all with the aim of serving mutual interests and opening broader avenues for cooperation between the two sides.

Both parties emphasized the importance of preserving the unity of sovereign institutions, safeguarding their independence, and adhering to their designated mandates and authorities. This is intended to prevent the duplication of decision-making or the exploitation of these institutions within the context of political polarization.

Furthermore, they underscored the necessity of shielding the judiciary, maintaining its independence, and keeping it free from any political interference or alignment. The judiciary is considered a fundamental constitutional pillar for the stability of the state, as well as an essential guarantee for upholding the rule of law and protecting rights and freedoms.
