Tripoli, October 31, 2026 (LANA) – Osama Hammad, the Prime Minister appointed by the House of Representatives, has welcomed the outcomes of the UN Security Council session on Libya held yesterday, Friday. He emphasized the necessity of forming a unified executive authority, ending institutional division, and consolidating sovereign and oversight institutions. This, he noted, would pave the way for free and fair elections based on national consensus and a sound constitutional and legal framework.
In a statement posted on his official accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, Hammad explained that the formation of a unified executive authority is a fundamental step toward restoring the unity of state institutions, ending fragmentation, safeguarding the resources of the Libyan people, and creating the necessary conditions for stability and development.
Hammad expressed appreciation for international efforts supporting these objectives, while stressing the importance of respecting Libyan sovereignty and upholding the national will. He underscored that any political solution must be reached through consensus, led and owned by Libyans themselves, and free from external dictates or interventions that do not serve the country’s stability.
