Al-Menfi participates in the 8th Summit of Gas Exporting Countries in Moscow

Moscow, October 27, 2026 (LANA) – The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, participated today, Tuesday, in the Russian capital, Moscow, in the 8th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), following an invitation extended to him by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The summit was also attended by the Minister of Oil and Gas of the Government of National Unity, along with several heads of national oil companies. This participation comes as part of efforts to strengthen Libya’s presence in international forums concerning the oil and gas sector, and to expand the horizons for economic cooperation and strategic partnerships with the Russian Federation—all in a manner that serves national interests, fosters investment opportunities, and facilitates the exchange of expertise in relevant fields, according to the Presidential Council’s media office.

The summit carries growing significance in light of the rapid transformations currently unfolding in global energy markets. These shifts underscore the necessity for enhanced coordination among gas-producing and exporting nations, as well as the need for intensified dialogue regarding market stability, security of supply, and the prospects for international cooperation within the energy sector.
