Benghazi, October 26, 2026 (LANA) – The Libyan House of Representatives has affirmed the depth of the historical and fraternal relations between the State of Libya and the Arab Republic of Egypt, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination to serve the interests of both nations and support security and stability in the region.

In its Statement No. (06) of 2026, issued this Monday, the House stated that Libyan-Egyptian relations are rooted in bonds of kinship, shared interests, and a common destiny. It noted that the security and stability of Libya are intrinsically linked to the security and stability of Egypt, particularly in light of the challenges both countries face—foremost among them being the fight against terrorism, extremism, and organized crime, as well as the protection of borders.

The House expressed its appreciation for Egypt’s consistent support for Libya’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity—a stance reiterated on several occasions by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who has consistently championed the unity of the Libyan state and its national institutions, while rejecting foreign interference in its internal affairs.

The House of Representatives reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering bilateral relations and expanding the scope of cooperation and consultation with the Arab Republic of Egypt across various sectors. This engagement is based on mutual respect, the preservation of national sovereignty and legitimate interests, and adherence to the principles of international law, all with the aim of achieving mutual benefit for both nations.

The statement further emphasized that Libyan-Egyptian relations serve as a fundamental pillar for regional security and stability. It noted that a shared destiny and common strategic interests provide a solid foundation for the continued development of the partnership and cooperation between the two countries, ultimately fulfilling the aspirations of both fraternal peoples for security, stability, development, and prosperity.
