“The United States remains firmly committed to strengthening ties with Libya,” Trump says.

Tripoli 26 October 2026 (Lana) U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Libya, supporting the unification of Libyan institutions, and standing alongside the Libyan people during the transitional phase towards successful national elections, stressing that the Libyan people deserve peace and prosperity and that Libya cannot remain a corridor for illegal migration.

“The Libyan people are proud, resilient, hospitable, and deserving of peace and prosperity. We respect the Libyan people and the sacrifices that brave Libyans made fighting ISIS, the common enemy of both our peoples.” Trump said in a post on his Truth Social platform yesterday.

“The United States and Libya share a strong and enduring partnership in combating terrorism, building on our historic success in defeating ISIS in Libya together,” he added.

Regarding illegal migration, Trump stressed that Libya cannot continue to serve as a corridor for such migration, emphasising the need to end this situation immediately.

“The Libyan people have been victims of terrorism and foreign meddling for years. I want them to unite, take back their sovereignty, and have the peaceful, prosperous future they deserve,” he said.
