Tripoli, October 25, 2026 (LANA) – The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Sunday the resumption of operations at the Brega refinery—operated by the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company—following a long period of inactivity.
On its website, the NOC stated that the refinery underwent a major overhaul, which included replacing the catalyst, upgrading control systems, and constructing a new, modern control room.
It is worth noting that the Brega refinery is the oldest oil refinery in Libya, having been established in 1962. With a production capacity of approximately 10,000 barrels per day, it holds strategic importance within Libya’s energy sector.
