Tripoli, 25 October 2026 (Lana) Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dabaiba affirmed that Libya is a sovereign state and rejected any insult to the country or its people, who have made significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
In a post published by the Government Media Office on Sunday, Dabaiba said that Libya seeks to maintain relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect, stressing that the dignity of Libya and its people must not become a subject of electoral disputes.
His response followed remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who described Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and Haiti as “shithouse countries.”
