Al-Taher meets with His Kazakh Counterpart

Astana – October 23, 2026 – (LANA) – The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Latif Al-Taher, met with his Kazakh counterpart, Aidarbek Saparov, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Libya and Kazakhstan in the fields of agriculture and livestock. The meeting took place yesterday, Thursday, in the Kazakh capital, Astana, and was attended by the accompanying Libyan delegation and several officials from the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of National Unity stated that both sides emphasized the importance of developing bilateral relations and expanding the horizons of joint cooperation, with the aim of fostering agricultural and livestock production and enhancing food security.

The discussions covered opportunities for the exchange of agricultural and livestock products, leveraging successful experiences and expertise in developing the agricultural sector, and utilizing modern technologies to increase production rates and improve efficiency.

Furthermore, the two sides explored cooperation in addressing climate change and mitigating its negative impacts on the agricultural sector, as well as combating agricultural pests and animal diseases. They also reviewed mechanisms for the export of grains, live animals, and meat from the Republic of Kazakhstan to Libya. The two sides agreed to establish a joint committee between the two ministries, tasked with following up on the outcomes of the meeting and working to put the understandings into effect, thereby strengthening the bilateral partnership and serving the common interests of both countries.
