Tripoli, October 22, 2026 (LANA) – According to various media outlets and online pages, Fawzi Misbah Abu Khuzam assumed the duties of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya today, Thursday. The transfer was facilitated by a committee established pursuant to Decision No. (6) of 2026, issued by the Presidency of the House of Representatives.
The handover committee is composed of the following members: Abdul-Muttalib Baqas (a member of the High Council of State) as Chairman, along with Amer Nasr (a member of the House of Representatives), Ali Omran (a member of the Central Bank’s Board of Directors), Hassan Khamis (a member of the High Council of State), and Abdul-Wanis Rashwan (a Central Bank official).
The Presidency of the House of Representatives had previously decided to accept, in principle, the resignation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Issa. It further tasked Fawzi Abu Khuzam—a member of the Bank’s Board of Directors—with temporarily carrying out the Governor’s duties, pending the formal presentation of the resignation to the House of Representatives during its next session for a final decision.
