Ministry of Local Government and National Economic Development Council Sign Cooperation Agreement

Tripoli, October 22, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Local Government of the Government of National Unity signed a cooperation agreement today, Thursday, with the National Economic and Social Development Council. The agreement aims to support institutional development, build capacity, and foster collaboration in the fields of research, studies, and consultancy.

The Ministry stated on its official page that the agreement was signed by the Acting Minister of Local Government, Mohamed Ben Ghalboun, and the Director-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council, Qwaider Ibrahim.

The agreement includes the development of training programs, the exchange of expertise and data, and the organization of joint workshops and seminars. It also focuses on improving administrative performance and promoting the principles of governance, digitalization, and transparency. Furthermore, it stipulates the formation of a joint committee between the two parties to oversee the implementation of its provisions.

During the signing ceremony, the launch of a national spatial development program was announced—coordinated with the Ministries of Planning, Local Government, and Economy, along with other relevant entities—with the goal of supporting balanced local development and advancing economic and social progress.

Both sides emphasized the importance of coordinating institutional efforts to implement development programs and enhance performance efficiency, thereby contributing to the achievement of national goals and supporting development across various regions.
