Tripoli, October 22, 2026 (LANA) – The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has expressed its condemnation of what it described as an incursion by a force and other parties into its headquarters in Tripoli, as well as the violation of the Governor’s office during his absence. The Bank held the parties involved in the incident responsible for its repercussions.
In a statement issued this Thursday, the Bank characterized this action as a breach of institutional and administrative protocols, and a failure to uphold the duty to respect and safeguard the sanctity of the Bank’s premises. It placed full responsibility for the consequences on all parties that participated in or contributed to the incident—foremost among them the Ministry of Defense, given its mandate to protect and secure the Bank’s headquarters and prevent any assault upon it.
Concluding its statement, the Bank affirmed that it bears no responsibility for any actions or measures that may have resulted from this incursion. It further emphasized its right to pursue necessary legal action to protect its premises, offices, and documentation, and to hold those responsible for the incident accountable.
