Tripoli, October 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Political Committee of the High Council of State (HCS) reaffirmed the Council’s rejection of the outcomes of the "4+4" mini-meeting during a session held today, Wednesday, in Tripoli. The meeting addressed recent political developments, including events within the House of Representatives—most notably the election of a new leadership and the vote on the maritime agreement—as well as the contents of the UN envoy’s briefing on October 14 and its implications for the political process.

According to the Council’s media office, the meeting concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening the HCS’s political position in the coming period. It also emphasized the importance of addressing these developments within legal and constitutional frameworks, in order to preserve the role of national institutions and support efforts toward consensus and stability in the country.
