Benghazi, October 21, 2026 (LANA) – The Presidency of the House of Representatives has affirmed that the appointment of a Deputy Head of the Audit Bureau by the High Council of State, acting unilaterally, constitutes a clear violation of the agreements reached between the two bodies regarding sovereign positions.
In a statement issued this Wednesday, the Presidency emphasized that this unilateral action runs counter to the spirit of consensus, and it urged all relevant parties to disregard this appointment and refrain from engaging with it.
The Presidency called upon the leadership of all national institutions and entities to join forces and prioritize the higher national interest—working to unify state institutions and end divisions, particularly concerning sovereign and oversight positions—to ensure that these institutions can perform their duties according to their mandates and fulfill the aspirations of the Libyan people.
The statement noted that coordination with the High Council of State remains ongoing, with the aim of agreeing upon clear mechanisms to unify these institutions in accordance with the joint understandings reached between the two councils.
In conclusion, the Presidency stated that the unification of state institutions is a shared national responsibility, requiring a genuine commitment to safeguarding the nation’s resources and achieving comprehensive stability.
