Pulbished on:

Doha, October 20, 2026 (LANA) – Salem Al-Zadma, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, stressed the need to reconsider international mechanisms for action and strengthen the role of international institutions in addressing conflicts through dialogue, cooperation, and coordinated efforts, in a manner that ensures respect for state sovereignty, curbs double standards, and prevents policies aimed at imposing faits accomplis.

He made these remarks while delivering the Government of National Unity’s address at the 2026 Global Security Forum in the Qatari capital, Doha. His speech outlined Libya’s vision regarding security challenges and international developments, including reverse migration, growing instability in several regions of the world, declining effectiveness of international institutions, and the erosion of the traditional rules governing the international order, according to the Hakomitna platform.

Al-Zadma also addressed the interconnected nature of political, security, and economic crises and their impact on states and societies. He emphasized the importance of addressing the root causes of crises and limiting their repercussions in ways that strengthen prospects for peace and stability.

The eighth edition of the forum is being held under the theme “The Future of Alliances,” with the participation of officials and experts from more than 100 countries. Discussions focus on shifts in international alliances, the future of security cooperation, and the challenges facing international institutions and collective security.
