Al-Koni welcomes the House of Representatives' ratification of the maritime memorandum of understanding with Türkiye

Tripoli, October 20, 2026 (LANA) – Mousa Al-Koni, a member of the Presidential Council, welcomed on Tuesday the House of Representatives' ratification of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) concluded between Libya and Türkiye regarding the delimitation of maritime jurisdiction areas in the Mediterranean Sea, which was signed in 2019.
In a statement, Al-Koni expressed his support for this move, highlighting its importance in safeguarding Libya’s maritime rights and advancing the country’s interests in the Mediterranean region.
The Presidential Council member called for continued direct institutional engagement between the House of Representatives and the Turkish side. He urged building upon this ratification to operationalize the memorandum of understanding and expand areas of joint cooperation, in a manner that serves mutual interests and fosters mutual respect between the Libyan and Turkish peoples.
