Tripoli, October 18, 2026 (LANA) – The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, received the credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to the State of Libya, Alexi Konstantopoulos, in Tripoli this Sunday morning, marking the commencement of his diplomatic mission.

The Presidential Council’s Media Office reported that the EU Ambassador conveyed the European Union’s emphasis on the importance of continued communication and coordination between the two sides.

According to the same source, the meeting addressed the prospects for relations between the State of Libya and the European Union, as well as ways to enhance them and strengthen areas of joint cooperation—thereby supporting the bilateral partnership and serving mutual interests. The discussion also covered the latest developments in the Libyan political landscape and efforts aimed at advancing the political process toward a comprehensive and sustainable settlement. This includes broadening political participation, ensuring the engagement of various parties, and upholding the principle of Libyan ownership of the political process—all to ensure respect for the will of the Libyan people, pave the way for stability, and facilitate the unification of state institutions.
