Cairo, October 13, 2026 (LANA) – Libya signed the "Statute of the Arab Center for Social Policy Studies and Poverty Eradication in Arab Countries" on Tuesday.

The Statute was signed by Wafaa Al-Kilani, Minister of Social Affairs in the Government of National Unity, on the sidelines of the 84th session of the Executive Bureau of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers, held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States General Secretariat.

The Center aims to foster cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of information, expertise, and experiences among member states regarding social policies and poverty reduction across its various dimensions.

The Arab League Council at the summit level had welcomed the establishment of the Center in 2018; the Council subsequently approved it at the ministerial level in 2021, selecting the Jordanian capital, Amman, as its headquarters.

Libya is the seventh country to sign the Center's Statute, following Lebanon—which also joined today—as well as Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, Egypt, and Morocco.
