Tripoli, October 13, 2026 (LANA) – Hanna Tetteh, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), will brief the UN Security Council tomorrow, Wednesday, on the latest political developments in Libya.
The Mission announced via its official page that the briefing will take place at 4:00 PM Libya time and will be broadcast live on the UN website, with simultaneous interpretation into Arabic.
It explained that the briefing is part of the periodic sessions the Security Council holds on Libya every 60 days. During the session, the Council is expected to discuss renewing the mandate of the UN mission, which expires on October 31.
The Mission noted that the session comes amidst rapidly unfolding political developments in Libya, including recent changes in the leadership of the House of Representatives and the agreement reached—and signed on August 30—by the "4+4" mini-dialogue committee.
The Mission indicated that the briefing is expected to cover key political developments and UN efforts aimed at advancing the political process in Libya.
