Al-Menfi meets with Palestinian Foreign Minister

Tripoli, October 11, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, discussed today, Sunday, with the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop joint cooperation. He reaffirmed Libya’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

The Council stated on its official page that Varsen conveyed the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the Head of the Presidential Council and commended his supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, valuing the sentiments he expressed during his participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Council noted that the meeting addressed prospects for developing Libyan-Palestinian relations and expanding areas of cooperation to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and solidarity between the two brotherly peoples. It also covered the latest developments in the Middle East, violations committed against the Palestinian people, and the resulting political and humanitarian repercussions.

The Minister briefed Al-Menfi on the latest political, field, and humanitarian developments regarding the Palestinian cause. The two sides discussed ways to enhance consultation and coordinate positions on issues of mutual interest, as well as to align their visions in regional and international forums. At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Menfi received the State of Palestine’s shield in recognition of his supportive stance toward the Palestinian cause and his solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle to secure their legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
