Koury Meets with the Republic of the Congo’s Foreign Minister.

Tripoli, 11 October 2026 (Lana) Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Stephanie Koury, discussed yesterday with Constant Serge Bounda, Minister for Foreign Affairs, La Francophonie and Congolese Abroad of the Republic of the Congo, recent political, economic, and security developments in Libya.

The mission stated that the meeting focused on the national reconciliation and transitional justice and the achievements of the African Union High-Level Committee on Libya, chaired by His Excellency President Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo, whose efforts culminated in the signing of the Libyan National Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation in February 2025 under the auspices of the African Union.

Koury provided an update on progress in the UNSMIL-facilitated political process, including the Agreement of the Smaller Convening and the Structured Dialogue.

According to the mission, Koury and Foreign Minister Bounda underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union in support of Libyan efforts to advance the political process.
