Libyan-Philippine Talks on Ways to Strengthen Joint Cooperation

Tripoli, October 10, 2026 (LANA) – Ashraf Al-Taib, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed yesterday with Roderico C. Atienza, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Libya, ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
The meeting reviewed several joint cooperation files, including the issue of the Filipino workforce. Both sides emphasized the need to expedite the conclusion of a memorandum of understanding regarding the regulation of Filipino labor recruitment for work in Libya and the protection of workers' rights. Discussions also covered expanding cooperation in the health, oil, and energy sectors, as well as enhancing economic and investment cooperation.
The two sides highlighted the importance of activating agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the countries across all fields, organizing reciprocal visits and cultural events, and discussing preparations for the upcoming 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Libya and the Philippines on November 17, 2026.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties affirmed the importance of continued coordination and consultation to further develop bilateral relations and serve the mutual interests of both countries.
