Tripoli, October 9, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Interior held a ceremony, Thursday, to mark the 62nd anniversary of Libyan Police Day. The event was attended by the Minister of Interior, Major General Imad Al-Trabelsi; the Tunisian Minister of Interior, Khaled Nouri; and a number of officials, security leaders, officers, non-commissioned officers, and retired police personnel.
In his address, the Tunisian Minister of Interior praised the deep fraternal ties between Libya and Tunisia, expressing his pleasure at participating in the occasion and emphasizing the importance of strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Minister of Interior welcomed his Tunisian counterpart, affirming that the security of Tunisia is the security of Libya—and vice versa—and that the relationship between the two brotherly peoples is deep-rooted and solid. He also commended the efforts and sacrifices of police personnel in maintaining security and protecting the homeland and its citizens.
The Minister emphasized that commemorating this occasion serves to honor the history of the police institution and its unification across Libya’s three regions, as well as to acknowledge the contributions of its pioneers and retirees. He noted that the progress achieved within the Ministry of Interior is the fruit of collective effort and the solidarity of its various components.
The ceremony included the honoring of retired police personnel, pioneers of the institution, key figures in security training and qualification, and the professors and academics who have contributed to educating cadets at the Police Officers' College, in recognition of their contributions and their role in building and training generations of police officers.
