Egyptian-Italian Political Consultations on Developments in Libya.
Pulbished on:
Rome, 7 October 2026 (Lana) The Italian capital, Rome, hosted a round of Egyptian-Italian consultations on developments in Libya, with the participation of the two countries’ assistant foreign ministers, Basel Salah and Maurizio Greganti.
Rady stated that the consultations were held as part of the mechanism for regular Egyptian-Italian consultations on Libya, the most recent session of which was held last January in Cairo, where developments in Libya and ways to support efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis in a comprehensive and sustainable manner were discussed.
During the consultations, both sides emphasized the need to strengthen existing coordination mechanisms among regional and international parties, aiming to unify positions on addressing the challenges posed by the crisis to the countries of the region.
The two sides agreed on the importance of ensuring that all international and regional efforts include all relevant Libyan parties involved in the Libyan scene in a way that prevents the marginalization or exclusion of any component from the Libyan political landscape.
The two parties stressed their rejection of any foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs and agreed on the need for all mercenaries to leave Libyan territory, as well as the importance of adherence to the rules of international law governing the demarcation of maritime boundaries.
