Al-Namroush Participates in Meeting of Chiefs of Staff of 5+5 Defence Initiative Countries in Paris

Paris, October 6, 2026 (LANA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Dr. Salah al-Din Al-Namroush, and his accompanying delegation participated in the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the countries participating in the “5+5 Defence” Initiative, held in the French capital, Paris.
The meeting, attended by the Chiefs of Staff of the member states and chaired by France, discussed a number of issues related to joint security and defence cooperation and strengthening coordination among the member states, in a manner that contributes to supporting security and stability in the Western Mediterranean region.
The meeting also saw the adoption of a joint statement containing a roadmap for strengthening security and defence dialogue and developing civil-military cooperation mechanisms for disaster management, in addition to expanding areas of cooperation in cyber defence and special operations.
According to the General Staff, Libya’s participation in the meeting comes within the framework of strengthening its presence and cooperation within the “5+5 Defence” Initiative and supporting joint efforts aimed at developing cooperation and coordination among the countries of the Western Mediterranean.
