Sorman Municipality Warns of Deliberate Fires in Northern Sorman Forest and Calls on Security Authorities to Pursue Those Responsible

Pulbished on:

Sorman, October 3, 2026 (LANA) – The Sorman Municipality expressed concern over suspicions that a number of fires had been deliberately set in the Northern Sorman Forest, warning of the seriousness of such acts.

In a statement, the municipality called on all security authorities and relevant bodies to raise their level of preparedness and readiness and to take urgent and decisive measures to protect the forest and its surrounding areas.

The municipality also stressed the need to immediately and urgently open an investigation into all fire incidents, uncover the circumstances surrounding them, and pursue anyone proven to have been involved in setting the fires or causing them. It called for all necessary deterrent legal measures to be taken against those responsible, without leniency or exception, in accordance with the legislation in force.

The municipality stated that tampering with the forest or deliberately causing damage to it constitutes an assault on the environment and public property and will not be treated as a passing matter. It called on citizens to immediately report any suspicious movements or activities and to cooperate with the relevant authorities to preserve the forest and safeguard the safety of citizens and property.
