Al-Menfi meets with the Somali President

New Alamein – October 3, 2026 – (LANA) – The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, received the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today, Saturday, in the city of New Alamein.
The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Libya and Somalia, as well as ways to develop them and elevate the levels of cooperation and joint coordination across various fields. According to the Media Office of the Presidential Council President, the discussion aimed to enhance mutual interests and serve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
The two sides also reviewed the latest developments in the Horn of Africa and exchanged views on a number of regional issues of common interest, in light of the challenges facing security and stability on the African continent.
The Somali President commended the positions taken by President Mohamed Al-Menfi in support of Somalia's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He affirmed his country's backing for efforts aimed at consolidating stability and peace in Libya through an inclusive, Libyan-led political process that ensures the participation of all parties and national forces.
For his part, Al-Menfi appreciated the Federal Republic of Somalia's supportive stance regarding the Libyan cause. He praised its contribution to backing the Libyan political process and defending the principle of national ownership of the Libyan solution in regional and international forums—foremost among them the UN Security Council, the African Union, and the League of Arab States.
