Al-Trabelsi discusses enhancing security cooperation with the U.S. President's Special Assistant in Washington

Washington, September 30, 2026 (LANA) – Major General Imad Al-Trabelsi, Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, met in Washington with Wayne Wahl, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Middle East and Africa Affairs at the National Security Council. The meeting, attended by Mahmoud Al-Fteisi, Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in the U.S., focused on aspects of security cooperation and coordination between Libya and the United States.

Discussions covered the security cooperation agreement between the two nations and ways to enhance joint cooperation, alongside a review of various security-related issues of mutual interest.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the meeting also addressed support for Libyan efforts to maintain security and stability, strengthen the capabilities of security agencies, and develop coordination and cooperation mechanisms between the two sides in a manner that serves mutual interests and bolsters stability in Libya.
