Tripoli, September 29, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Al-Menfi, and his deputy, Al-Lafi, discussed with the Head of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, ways to fulfill constitutional obligations and efforts aimed at resolving the current political impasse.

The Presidential Council’s Media Office reported that the attendees emphasized the importance of adhering to the constitutional and legal frameworks governing any political agreements. This ensures the integrity of procedures—shielding them from legal challenges—and guarantees a peaceful transition of power. They stressed the need to advance an inclusive political process that excludes none of the relevant institutions or parties and is grounded in the principle of Libyan ownership of the solution, while maintaining a supportive role for the UN and the international community. These efforts are to proceed in parallel with intensified work to unify Libyan state institutions in a manner that meets current requirements and reinforces the country's unity, stability, and sovereignty.

The attendees affirmed that the primary objective of any political consensus is to create the appropriate conditions for holding free and fair elections based on a sound constitutional framework and electoral laws that enjoy broad national consensus, thereby ending transitional phases and leading to unified, stable institutions.
